From Sample to Shipped: Our 4-Step Custom Process

  1. Send your product & label. Physical samples are best; accurate dimensions and a label spec (size, liner width, transparent or not) work too. This starts the engineering evaluation at no cost.
  2. Engineering evaluation. We check the three-way match (bottle geometry, label design, target capacity) and confirm the approach: standard platform with jig, modified platform, or a purpose-built machine.
  3. Jig design & build. The fixture is engineered for your exact container, built and tuned on the machine. Drawings and sample parameters are archived the moment the design freezes.
  4. FAT video with your part before shipping. Your product runs through the finished machine at target speed, on camera. The video is your acceptance evidence: it gates the balance payment.

Shapes We’ve Solved

Six geometries that defeat standard labelers, and the engineering answer for each.

Wrap-around labeler configured to keep labels inside the straight zone of tapered woozy bottles

Tapered (woozy) bottles

Why it fails: circumference changes along the label path, so wraps climb and wrinkle. Our fix: label confined to the straight zone, or a jig presenting the bottle at a controlled angle. Full decision tree: tapered bottle guide.

Oval and flat oval bottles labeled by the T963 combo platform with matched application faces

Oval & flat-oval

Why it fails: the face rolls away from a straight application. Our fix: roller platforms with shaped pressure surfaces (T803-class) or double-side heads with matched faces. The T963 combo covers oval-plus-round halls.

Square bottle with rounded corners labeled on both flat panels by a double-side labeling machine

Square with rounded corners

Why it fails: corner radius traps air and drives the diagonal wrinkle. Our fix: fixture centering plus belt press order plus artwork inside the straight zone. Deep dive: square-bottle troubleshooting.

Bottom labeling custom application on an automatic top-and-bottom labeling platform

Bottom labeling

Why it fails: the face you need is facing down. Our fix: the dedicated T935 bottom-labeling platform, proven on a real customer order: batch and compliance panels applied underside.

Corner wrap tamper evident seal applied across a carton edge by the T888 custom labeler

Corner-wrap tamper seals

Why it fails: the label must cross an edge without bridging or lifting. Our fix: corner-wrap fixtures that pre-form the path, used for tamper-evident box sealing and closure seals.

Multi-panel container labeled front and back on a semi-automatic flat labeling machine

Three-panel / arc surfaces

Why it fails: multiple faces and changing curvature on one container. Our fix: multi-head or indexed-fixture configurations: sometimes one machine, sometimes a head plus jig; the evaluation decides.

Your Jig Is Archived: Reorders Skip the Tooling Fee

Custom tooling usually dies in a warehouse corner the week after delivery, which is why every reorder starts with “can you even still build this?” Our rule is different: custom jig drawings and your sample parameters are archived permanently the moment the design freezes. Reorder the machine, replace the fixture, expand to a second line: the engineering fee is not charged twice.

The same archive is what makes the 48-hour test video possible at all: your bottle’s geometry, jig settings and label spec are on file, so repeat testing starts from knowledge, not from zero.

NDA: we can sign a non-disclosure agreement before samples ship [TBC, standard NDA template pending confirmation].

How Custom Projects Are Quoted

Custom machines carry no list price, and that is deliberate, not evasive. Two custom builds for “the same bottle” can differ by a factor of two in fixture complexity, so the only honest quote follows the evaluation.

The sequence: you send the product and label (free evaluation) → we return the approach, lead time and price together, as one package → the FAT video validates it before the balance. What moves the number: fixture complexity, whether a standard platform can carry the jig, throughput, and integration depth.

Every quote states the tooling line separately, and because your jig is archived, the tooling line appears once, not on every reorder.

What to send for the free evaluation

  • Product samples (or full dimensions: L × W × H / diameter)
  • Label samples or spec: size, liner width, transparent?
  • Target capacity (pcs/min or per day)
  • Any line constraints (existing conveyor? height? direction?)

Custom Labeling Solutions: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you label tapered or woozy bottles?

Yes, it is one of our signature problems. The label either stays inside the bottle’s straight-wall zone or the bottle is presented at a controlled angle in an engineered jig; which route wins is decided by the label design and the taper severity. The full approach is in the tapered bottle labeling guide.

How much does a custom labeling machine cost?

Custom projects are quoted per project: no list prices, because fixture complexity can vary hugely between “similar” bottles. The quote follows the free engineering evaluation and arrives as one package: approach, lead time and price, with tooling shown as a separate line that does not repeat on reorders.

How long does a custom build take?

Custom lead time is evaluated per project based on engineering complexity [TBC]. The evaluation itself is fast: send samples and you have the approach and timeline in days, with the FAT video proving the build before shipment.

Do you keep my fixture for reorders?

Yes, custom jig drawings and your sample parameters are archived permanently once the design freezes. Reorders skip the tooling fee entirely: replace a fixture, duplicate a line or re-run the test video without paying for the engineering twice.

Will you sign an NDA before I send samples?

We can sign an NDA before your samples ship [TBC, standard NDA template pending confirmation]. Ask for it in your first message and it goes out with the evaluation kickoff.

What if my bottles are oval with an arc face?

Oval and arc-face containers usually resolve on standard platforms with shaped pressure surfaces: the T803 roller platform at benchtop scale, or the T963 where round bottles share the line. When the arc defeats the standard approach, the jig takes over: same process, same archive promise.
